album of the day

Album: Pornography

Artist: The Cure

Year: 1982

Why I love it: Pornography is one of the defining albums in the Cure’s forty-one years as a band. It is by far the most aggressive thing Robert Smith has ever come up with. Opening with the line, “it doesn’t matter if we all die,” Pornography is dark, brooding and manic. It is hard to believe that the poppy single, ‘Let’s Go to Bed’ was released in the same year. But, that’s why I love the Cure.

Favourite track: A Strange Day
